The Rheumatology Research Workshop is an invitation only, two-day, in-person workshop that promotes interaction between rheumatology trainees, early career investigators, and established investigators to foster collaboration and facilitate career mentoring.

The workshop will include scientific lectures, oral abstract presentations, and opportunities for early career investigators to interact with senior investigators. Sessions will focus on the skills needed to be successful in research, including improved communication and presentation, work-life balance, tips for grant application, how to build a research team, and more.

Target Audience
This meeting is designed for:

  • A medical student or resident enrolled in an ACGME-accredited pediatric, medicine or combined medicine/pediatric residency program who is interested in rheumatology.
  • A fellow-in-training at an ACGME-accredited training program that will lead to eligibility to take the ABIM examination in rheumatology or the ABP examination in pediatric rheumatology.
  • A faculty member within six years of completing their fellowship training program (those who completed their fellowship after May 2018).

Travel Award

  • Complimentary invitation to attend
  • $750 for accommodation and travel expenses from the ACR

Eligibility Requirements

The following are the eligibility requirements for invitation consideration.

  • Complete an application
  • Submit an abstract
  • Provide a letter of support from division chief/program director or research supervisor
  • Must be an ACR/ARP member

*Preliminary findings or proposals for fellowship research projects are encouraged.

MOC

MOC Recognition Statement
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 0 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

By completing this activity, you provide the ACR permission to share completion data with the ACCME and the certifying board.

After submitting a reflective statement with key takeaways from the meeting, MOC points will be applied for ABIM diplomates to the ABIM diplomate number and date of birth provided when you registered. Points are sent nightly to ACCME and then transferred to the ABIM Physician Portal. Please allow at least 48 hours for points to display in the portal.
